McHozer Comics

Blog

The King is dead, long live the King….

Well you might have noticed a bit of a slow down around these parts. Well there is a reason for it. In a nutshell McHozer Comics is no more. Wait, Let me put that a differently… the McHozer Comics that you have seen up until this point is no more. From this point on we will no longer be publishing under that name.

Does that mean we are leaving comics? No, not at all. In fact we plan to be busier then ever. From this moment on we will be focusing our attention on one title and one title alone, Celtic Shaman.

What exactly does that mean? Well it means that we are going to devote all our time and efforts to put out the best comic that we can for you guys without getting distracted by too many side projects. Celtic Shaman will be published (in print) under its own name, firstly on the web at www.celticshaman.ca, then collected in TPB format.

As for the McHozer name, well I’ll continue to use it when I start up my new blog, chronicling the ups and downs of trying to publish an indie comic, plus we’ll occasionally be using the name to publish other side project when we have time for them (projects like Deadmen and Poodleskirts 2… coming soon.)

We think by turning our focus to our core title we will be able to produce a quality comic that you will really love… or die trying.

As always comments or suggestions are always welcome. So please send me an e-mail at cmcquaid@mchozers.com

Thanks guys, and see you in the matrix.

Friday Links

Wow, what a busy week it been around here. You know the kind of week where you’re so exhausted that you wake up tired? Yeah, that kind of week. Thankfully the long weekend is here. Got ourselves a new propane tank for the grill and a case of ice cold beer. That’s all I need to have a happy May 2-4.

I was so busy this week I didn’t even get a chance to pimp the newest page of Celtic Shaman… let me correct that by directing your attention to www.celticshaman.ca for the latest. Also today being Friday that means that Deadmen and Poodleskirts is also updated. Click here to check it out.

Anyways, here are your Friday links:

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air by Ian McKellen – I can’t stop laughing at this video… it seriously makes me cry. (Youtube)

11 More Incredibly Disturbing Moments in Kids’ Movies – If you want to see what turned me into the demented person I am today just follow this link. Geez, these things screwed me up. (Topless Robot)

5 Superpowers We All Had as Babies – I don’t know what they’re talking about… I still have all these superpowers. (Cracked.com)

“I’ll Never Be Lost Again” – So the Lost series finale is this weekend. My wife and I only started watching this show about 6 months ago… She’s obsessed. So yeah, I know what I’ll be doing Sunday night for 2.5 hours. (Youtube)

Too Many Megaman Bosses – Yeah… it had to come to this eventually. (College Humor)

That’s it. Have a great long weekend everyone!

Happy Friday everyone, I hope you had a great week. It was a little cold and wet around here (I think it even snowed early in the week) so it was kinda blah for me.

Anyone else catch the season finale of Supernatural last night? I thought it was outstanding. It’s almost a shame that the show was picked up for another season because that would have been a great way to end the story of Sam and Dean Winchester. It almost reminds me of what happened with Buffy, the season where she (spoiler alert) died at the end… That should have been the end of the series IMO… After she came back there were some good moments, but overall the series kinda felt forced from that point.

Tonight is the season finale of Smallville, they are hinting that we’ll see the Superman colors show up, but we’ve been teased before.. so I don’t know what to believe. All I know is they say one regular character will die and I’m hoping it’s Tess, but I’m afraid it’ll be Zod. Tess’s character is ok, but I think they’ve done all they can with the “evil head of an evil corporation” plus Zod has been awesome this year, I’d love to see more of him.

Couple of things to pimp before the links, first as always there is a new page of Deadmen and Poodleskirts up, click here to check it out. Secondly a while back we were asked if we could donate a Wolverine themed piece of original art to the Shuster Awards so they could sell it on e-mail as part of a fundraising initiative. Well Daniel’s work is up, it’s awesome, and you can bid on it right here. The auction runs until May 18th, so make sure you get your bids in soon. Now on to the links.

How Iron Man should have ended – I love HISHE and I love Iron Man… Make sure you check out some of their past ones including how Superman should have ended. It’s classic. (Youtube)

The 20 Hottest Redheads in Comics – Someday Dru from Celtic Shaman will make this list…. someday… (Topless Robot)

Boy with cancer turns into a superhero for a day – If this story doesn’t make you smile and cry at the same time then you are not human… you’re some kind of… non smiling, non crying robot. There, I said it. (The Seattle Times)

5 Pop Culture Classics Created Out of Laziness – We should all be so lazy… am I right? (Cracked.com)

Gritty Superhero Reboot – Hmmm… maybe the reboot is the right thing to do after all. (College Humor)

Have a great weekend guys. Remember if you have a cool link please send it my way.

(You gonna argue with Wolverine bub?)

Hey guys, welcome to the Free Comic Book Day edition of the Friday links. I hope everyone is going to get a chance to head out their local comic shop and pick up from free comics. The lineup looks pretty good this year, looks like there is a little something for everyone. We are looking forward to hanging out at our favourite comic shop, talking to people and doing some sketches. It should be fun. I’ve been battling a cold all week, so it should be comfortable hanging outside all day (yes your sarcasm detector should be going off the charts right about now.) As always it’s Friday so that means there is a new page for Deadmen up and you can read it right here. Now here are your links…. FCBD style!

Free Comic Book Day – the official website for Free Comic Book Day. You can read all about it and find out what books are available. (Free Comic Book Day)

FCBD at Image Collections– The Facebook page for Image Collections’ Free Comic Book Day festivities. Click the link to find out everything they’ve got planned for the day. (Facebook)

FCBD Ironman/Thor Preview – Comic Book Resources has a preview of one of the books that will be hot hot hot at FCBD. (Comic Book Resources)

Creators Talk DC’s FCBD Sampler – Over at Newsarama they talk to some of the creators about the DC Kids Mega Sampler that I’m sure will be #1 on my sons list. (Newsarama)

Twirl a Squirrel Champ – ok, so not everything today is about free comic book day.  A friend of mine got one of these special bird feeders that prevents squirrels from eating all the bird feed… and this video of it in use was my favorite. Try to think of the music from Pee Wee’s big adventure when you watch it. (Youtube)

Ok, that’s it for the links, not on to one last item. The winning name in our “Name our Mascot” contest. We had a lot of great suggestions (my personal favorite was Arnold Trinidad) but there can be only one winner so, the winning name of our new mascot is…

Meg Sparrow.

Thanks to everyone who submitted a name and the winner will be contacted by e-mail so that we can send them their prize.

That’s it guys. Have a great FCBD,  if you have some pictures of your event feel free to post them in our message boards. I’ll try to do the same. Later!

Friday Links

Hey guys, happy Friday. I hope you’ve all got something cool planned for the weekend. We’ve got a birthday party for my 9 year old tomorrow… so yeah… Anyways there’s a new page of Deadmen up, if you haven’t checked it out already you can do so by clicking here. Now here are my Friday links of the week.

Lin Yu Chun And William Shatner sing Total Eclipse of the Heart – OMG… I have a new most favorite thing ever. Seriously. I love William Shatner (Shatner for GG!) and when he sings, well my heart grows 3 sizes just like the Grinch… Forget Madonna, Glee needs to have a Shatner episode… MAKE IT HAPPEN FOX. (Youtube)

Interview with Grant Morrison – Want to know what’s going on with Bruce Wayne and his time traveling return to DC Comics? Topless Robot has an excellent review with the man who’se bringing back the bat. (Topless Robot)

Stormtroopers Handbook – Everything you would ever want to know about working for the Empire… Other then how to avoid getting killed by Teddy Bears. (Cracked)

Spider-man’s Weakness – With great power comes great responsibility… and one or two drawbacks. (College Humor)

Iron Man vs Dirty Dancing – No one puts Tony Stark in the corner…. NO ONE! Yeah, with Iron Man opening soon you’ll probably end up seeing a lot of Iron Man related links from me for a while… Sorry. On a side side I picked up a box of Dr Pepper just for the Iron Man cans and I ended up with a whole case of Pepper Pots… WTF? (Youtube)

Ok, that’s it. Have a great weekend guys. If you wanna chat just drop me a line.

Friday Links

Hey guys. Hope you all had a great week. The newest page of Deadmen and Poodleskirts is up. Click here to check it out.

Interesting week for comic movies. It looks like Joss Whedon is going to direct The Avengers film and possibly do the script doctor thing to the Captain America film. First off, Joss made his name doing the script thing (fixing scripts for films like like Toy Story) so that can only be a good thing for the Cap film right? As far as the Avengers… Well he’s never done anything on this scale before, so this will be his big chance to become one of those blockbuster directors that his fans have always thought he should be. I think the movie itself is gonna be flop proof… no matter how good or bad it is it will do monster business.

They are saying that Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern costume will be CGI. I kinda think this could be a good thing. They’ve never really gotten comic book film costumes right due to the actual physical limitations of real fabric. So maybe cgi is the way to go. But only if it’s good Avatar type cgi and not creepy polar express cgi.

Kick Ass opens this weekend and it looks great. I was a big fan of the comics and it looks like its pretty faithful to the source material. Unfortunately we’ll be seeing Diary of a Wimpy Kid… the joy of having kids.

Anyways here are your links for the week:

the Ricky Gervais Show “monkey News” – I really like Ricky Gervais, and I think the idea of animating his radio program is genius. Add in Monkey news… and well you can’t go wrong can you? (Youtube)

The 7 most horrifying things ever discovered in human body – Strangely enough Madonna wasn’t involved in this list… (Cracked)

Pacman Ghosts Discuss TV – Ever wonder what those ghost’s talk about while they’re waiting to get Pacman… apparently Jack Bauer. (College Humor)

9 Actors who almost played superheroes and villains – I think Bill Murray would have been an awesome Batman… But only if he got to do it with the Caddyshack voice. (Topless Robot)

The Ballad of G.I. Joe – This is a little old… but I still love it. And not just because Olivia Wilde is the Baroness. (Funny Or Die)

Have a great weekend and if you have a cool link for me let me know in the message boards.

Friday Links

Happy Friday! Hope you had a good week; it was a pretty uneventful one for me with far too much rain and not enough bike riding. Today is the start of the next story in Deadmen and Poodleskirts. You can check it out right here.

Here are today’s random links:

The 10 Strangest G1 Transformers Episodes – Hey remember that episode where SeaSpray gets turned into a guy with robot feet? Yeah, that’s on this list. Surprisingly though, it’s not even number one. (Topless Robot)

Lando’s Love Lessons – Looking for love? Let Lando teach you all the moves you’ll need the next time you find yourself in a Mos Eisley space bar and the dancing girl of your dreams walks in. (Ego TV)

Seven Shows That Peaked In Season One – Personally I think Smallville peaked in season 3, but that’s just me. (Unreality)

6 Horrifying Implications of Awesome Fantasy Movie Universes – I’d love to live in the LOTR world… just so I could walk around all day saying “Dirty stinking Orcs!” without having everyone on the subway look at me funny. (Cracked.com)

The Muppets: Stand By Me – Sort of a belated Easter treat… This video made me laugh like a madman, but I am a bit strange that way. (Youtube)

That’s it for this week. If you have any suggestions leave me a message. Have a great weekend.
