Wednesday Web Comics

Another week, another page of Shaman. Check it out here. I hope your enjoying the story so far. We’ve got some cool stuff coming up (well at least I think it’s cool but I may be a bit biased.) Anyways here are this weeks comics.

Devilbear: How can you not love a comic about the ruler of a special hell set aside for naughty teddy Bears? (a ruler whose name is Bearalzebub no less) This is one of those comics that as soon as I saw it, I knew I was gonna love it. The comic is as cute as it is disturbing… Plus it’s funny as hell… well teddy bear hell anyways.

Questionable content: I’ve only recently discovered this comic and already it’s diggin it. The story centers on Marten, a 20-something music nerd, his PC named Pintsize, and a mysterious girl who moved in with him after she accidentally burned her apartment building down while trying to make toast. Lots of fun, and a crisp clean art style. Check it out.

That’s it for this week. If you have a comic you think I should check out please send it my way over in the message boards.

Wednesday Web Comics

So here’s a fun fact I learned last week at the convention. When properly motivated, Daniel does a heck of an Axel Rose impression. Who knew? Anyways… The newest page for Shaman is out and you can read it right….. Here. Now on to the web comics.

Saints and Warlords – Written by Steven Lindsay (the dude behind the awesome “Jesus Hates Zombies, Lincoln Hates Werewolves” series… a book you should totally check out if you haven’t already) Illustrated by Mark Slater and coloured by Alex Alderete S&W is dark and gritty and bloody and… well cool as hell. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to ruin anything, but it’s a really fun ride.

Misery Loves Sherman – My son loves everything and anything done by Chris Eliopoulos and it’s not hard to see why. I was first introduced to Chris’s work from his work on “Franklin Richards Son of a Genius” (my son’s favorite comic in the whole world) a fun (and funny) Calvin and Hobbs meets the Fantastic Four type of book. In Misery Loves Sherman, Chris creates his own cute and extremely funny world revolving around Sherman, a young boy living with a couple of Aliens (the extra terrestrial kind) in his closet and who is repeatedly tormented by his “loving” sister. Just a great comic.

That’s it for this week. Again, if you have a comic to recommend or you’d like to talk about these titles just head over to the message board and… well… leave a message.

Wednesday Web Comics

Hey guys, welcome to a new feature here, Wednesday Web Comics. Basically every Wednesday I’m gonna share a couple of links with you guys to some awesome web comics. Easy peasy.

First I just wanted to remind you that this weeks page from Celtic Shaman page is up and you can read it here. Secondly I wanted to let everyone who participated in our “Name our Mascot” contest at the convention that we’ve narrowed it down to 2 or 3 so I’ll be making an announcement about the winner very soon.

Now on to the comics. This week I’ve picked two of my favorites.

Doctor McNinja – Doctor McNinja is a Doctor who is also a ninja. I have to be honest with you. This is one of my favourite comics period. The humor is so my style that I was hooked right away. I picked up the first trade from writer/artist Christopher Hastings at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival a while back and I’ve been a fan ever since. It’s the perfect combination of action and humor.

In His Likeness – The first time I read IHL, it spoiled the end of the Harry Potter book I was reading. But I quickly got over that. Using simple effective visuals IHL is both clever and funny without being overly-controversial for the sake of being overly controversial (a tricky task given the subject matter in today’s society) plus creator James Hatton is a pretty cool dude.

That’s it for this week. If you know of a web comic that you think I’d like, send me an e-mail or leave me a message in our forums.
