Wednesday Web Comics

Hey guys, its Wednesday so that means its new comic book day. Hope you’re all going to get something cool today (Siege finally ends today, I’m looking forward to that.) Sorry for the lack of Friday links last week, but the wife and  managed to get away for the weekend and well that and mothers day really put a stop to my normal Friday activities… oh and if you’re wondering we went to the Fallsview Casino and had a wonderful time (lost no money, so that’s always a plus.) Anyways it’s time for the web comics and today is a pretty special edition because today is “Shameless Self Promotion Web Comic Wednesday.” Yes that’s right…. there’s only one comic today and it’s ours…

Celtic Shaman – This is it. Today is the launch of the all new exclusive Celtic Shaman number 1.  It all starts off with an image by guest cover artist Scott Nichols and then BAM on with the show… I think you’re gonna like what’s coming up, action, romance, political intrigue, alien conspiracys, historical biographies, drag racing…. ok, well maybe not all of those things, but Daniel’s art is kick ass… Take a look and let us know what you think ether on our fan page or in the message boards.

That’s it for today. I hope you have a great week, and we’ll see you on Friday.

Wednesday Web Comics

(no we didn’t make Jason sit on the outside…)

Hey guys, I hope you all had a great Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, we did. Just a little reminder that it’s Wednesday, that means another page of Shaman is up… in fact it’s the final page of the Ripper story, I hope you all enjoyed it… check it out at: www.celticshaman.ca

As for FCBD, well it started off well as it was nice a warm but soon the weather turned on us and the rain started to come down… Luckily we were prepared for such an emergency (well Daniel had prepared for such an emergency) and the day was saved by a big beige tent.

I’m not sure what books were popular in your neck of the woods, but I was told that the Sonic book did very well… It seemed strange to me, but I guess it could explain why he was one of the most requested characters for sketches.

And Speaking of sketches, thanks go to Daniel, Jason and Adam, they all worked very hard and pretty much non stop from 9-5 (what a way to make a living) they really did us proud and I think everyone was happy with the wonderful art they produced.

One of my favourite moments from the day was when we got to present Todd, the owner of Image Collections, with a poster that Daniel drew to commemorate the store’s 20th anniversary. Throughout the day we had as many visitors sign the poster as we could. Todd has done so much for us over the past couple of years so it was nice to be able to do something for him and I think he was genuinely surprised.

Otherwise it was just great to be out, meeting new people and reconnecting with some old friends. How can you not love Free Comic Book Day? Thanks again to everyone at Image for having us, it was a blast. Check out our photos from the event by visiting our Facebook page located right here. Now on to the web comics…

SLAM– A webcomic that takes place in a world where professional wrestling matches are real… wait, you mean that professional wrestling matches in our world are fake??? Damn you for ruining my innocence interwebs!!! But anyways… if you like wrestling and you like comics then you should check this out. You should check this out even if you don’t like wrestling cause it’s fun and the art is great. What more could you want?

Orion the Hunter – Set 230 years in the future, Orion is one of the coolest webcomics out there… Seriously… It’s a wicked space western about a half-breed alien lawman who returns to his home planet after it’s been involved in a transplanetary war. If you aren’t hooked after hearing just that, well then it’s like I don’t even know you anymore….

Well that’s it for this week. Make sure you check back next Wednesday… That is the start of the all new full-length exclusive Celtic Shaman #1… We are pretty exited for it and I hope you will be too. As always if you want to get in touch, just drop me a line. Have a great day and we’ll see you on Friday for the links…

Friday Links

(You gonna argue with Wolverine bub?)

Hey guys, welcome to the Free Comic Book Day edition of the Friday links. I hope everyone is going to get a chance to head out their local comic shop and pick up from free comics. The lineup looks pretty good this year, looks like there is a little something for everyone. We are looking forward to hanging out at our favourite comic shop, talking to people and doing some sketches. It should be fun. I’ve been battling a cold all week, so it should be comfortable hanging outside all day (yes your sarcasm detector should be going off the charts right about now.) As always it’s Friday so that means there is a new page for Deadmen up and you can read it right here. Now here are your links…. FCBD style!

Free Comic Book Day – the official website for Free Comic Book Day. You can read all about it and find out what books are available. (Free Comic Book Day)

FCBD at Image Collections– The Facebook page for Image Collections’ Free Comic Book Day festivities. Click the link to find out everything they’ve got planned for the day. (Facebook)

FCBD Ironman/Thor Preview – Comic Book Resources has a preview of one of the books that will be hot hot hot at FCBD. (Comic Book Resources)

Creators Talk DC’s FCBD Sampler – Over at Newsarama they talk to some of the creators about the DC Kids Mega Sampler that I’m sure will be #1 on my sons list. (Newsarama)

Twirl a Squirrel Champ – ok, so not everything today is about free comic book day.  A friend of mine got one of these special bird feeders that prevents squirrels from eating all the bird feed… and this video of it in use was my favorite. Try to think of the music from Pee Wee’s big adventure when you watch it. (Youtube)

Ok, that’s it for the links, not on to one last item. The winning name in our “Name our Mascot” contest. We had a lot of great suggestions (my personal favorite was Arnold Trinidad) but there can be only one winner so, the winning name of our new mascot is…

Meg Sparrow.

Thanks to everyone who submitted a name and the winner will be contacted by e-mail so that we can send them their prize.

That’s it guys. Have a great FCBD,  if you have some pictures of your event feel free to post them in our message boards. I’ll try to do the same. Later!

Wednesday Web Comics

Hey guys, hope you’ve have a great new comic book day and I hope you’ll all be going to your local comic shop this Saturday for Free Comic Book Day! We are looking forward to it. Small week for me in terms of books that I picked up, but they should all be pretty good. Invincible (my favorite superhero book) Deadpool (always a good read) and Walking Dead (my favorite comic period.) Anyways, there is a new Shaman page up today, click here to check it out.

Here are your web comics for this week:

Hero By Night: I just love this book. I actually first read it in print format only to find out that it came from the web. It really is fantastic, great concept, great art. If you haven’t read it before check it out.

Furious Comics – Phil McClorey was another neighbor of ours at the last convention. He’s a talented writer who’s built up an impressive amount of great stories for you to read on his site… plus he’s a pretty cool dude.

Ok that’s it, if you want me to check out your web comic drop me a line. Take it easy and we’ll see you on Friday (when we’ll announce the winner of our “Name the Mascot” contest)

Friday Links

Hey guys, happy Friday. I hope you’ve all got something cool planned for the weekend. We’ve got a birthday party for my 9 year old tomorrow… so yeah… Anyways there’s a new page of Deadmen up, if you haven’t checked it out already you can do so by clicking here. Now here are my Friday links of the week.

Lin Yu Chun And William Shatner sing Total Eclipse of the Heart – OMG… I have a new most favorite thing ever. Seriously. I love William Shatner (Shatner for GG!) and when he sings, well my heart grows 3 sizes just like the Grinch… Forget Madonna, Glee needs to have a Shatner episode… MAKE IT HAPPEN FOX. (Youtube)

Interview with Grant Morrison – Want to know what’s going on with Bruce Wayne and his time traveling return to DC Comics? Topless Robot has an excellent review with the man who’se bringing back the bat. (Topless Robot)

Stormtroopers Handbook – Everything you would ever want to know about working for the Empire… Other then how to avoid getting killed by Teddy Bears. (Cracked)

Spider-man’s Weakness – With great power comes great responsibility… and one or two drawbacks. (College Humor)

Iron Man vs Dirty Dancing – No one puts Tony Stark in the corner…. NO ONE! Yeah, with Iron Man opening soon you’ll probably end up seeing a lot of Iron Man related links from me for a while… Sorry. On a side side I picked up a box of Dr Pepper just for the Iron Man cans and I ended up with a whole case of Pepper Pots… WTF? (Youtube)

Ok, that’s it. Have a great weekend guys. If you wanna chat just drop me a line.

Wednesday Web Comics

Happy new comic book day everyone! There’s a new page of Celtic Shaman up now and you can read it right here. Now here are your web comics for Wednesday:

Peeling Onions: We had the pleasure sitting next to Lezley at the Wizard World Toronto show in March and on top of being an awesome person she is an awesome talent. When I first checked out her comic I was surprised… not by how good it was, I could see from across the table that it looked great, no I was surprised at how personal it was… At how much Lezley was willing to share with her readers. It literally left me speechless for a moment (not an easy task… ask my wife) I hope you all check it out.

Knight Syndrome (sorta NSFW): Jesus Morales submitted his online comic for Web Comic Wednesdays and I’m glad that he did. The art style reminds me a lot of something you’d see in those uber-cool Heavy Metal books. Set in 6 seasons the story is trippy, fun and a little bit gory. Fans of horror comics should definitely check this out, I think you’ll like it.

Thanks guys, and again if you want me to check out your web comic or you know of a web comic you think I’d like let me know in the message boards.

Friday Links

Hey guys. Hope you all had a great week. The newest page of Deadmen and Poodleskirts is up. Click here to check it out.

Interesting week for comic movies. It looks like Joss Whedon is going to direct The Avengers film and possibly do the script doctor thing to the Captain America film. First off, Joss made his name doing the script thing (fixing scripts for films like like Toy Story) so that can only be a good thing for the Cap film right? As far as the Avengers… Well he’s never done anything on this scale before, so this will be his big chance to become one of those blockbuster directors that his fans have always thought he should be. I think the movie itself is gonna be flop proof… no matter how good or bad it is it will do monster business.

They are saying that Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern costume will be CGI. I kinda think this could be a good thing. They’ve never really gotten comic book film costumes right due to the actual physical limitations of real fabric. So maybe cgi is the way to go. But only if it’s good Avatar type cgi and not creepy polar express cgi.

Kick Ass opens this weekend and it looks great. I was a big fan of the comics and it looks like its pretty faithful to the source material. Unfortunately we’ll be seeing Diary of a Wimpy Kid… the joy of having kids.

Anyways here are your links for the week:

the Ricky Gervais Show “monkey News” – I really like Ricky Gervais, and I think the idea of animating his radio program is genius. Add in Monkey news… and well you can’t go wrong can you? (Youtube)

The 7 most horrifying things ever discovered in human body – Strangely enough Madonna wasn’t involved in this list… (Cracked)

Pacman Ghosts Discuss TV – Ever wonder what those ghost’s talk about while they’re waiting to get Pacman… apparently Jack Bauer. (College Humor)

9 Actors who almost played superheroes and villains – I think Bill Murray would have been an awesome Batman… But only if he got to do it with the Caddyshack voice. (Topless Robot)

The Ballad of G.I. Joe – This is a little old… but I still love it. And not just because Olivia Wilde is the Baroness. (Funny Or Die)

Have a great weekend and if you have a cool link for me let me know in the message boards.

Wednesday Web Comics

Another week, another page of Shaman. Check it out here. I hope your enjoying the story so far. We’ve got some cool stuff coming up (well at least I think it’s cool but I may be a bit biased.) Anyways here are this weeks comics.

Devilbear: How can you not love a comic about the ruler of a special hell set aside for naughty teddy Bears? (a ruler whose name is Bearalzebub no less) This is one of those comics that as soon as I saw it, I knew I was gonna love it. The comic is as cute as it is disturbing… Plus it’s funny as hell… well teddy bear hell anyways.

Questionable content: I’ve only recently discovered this comic and already it’s diggin it. The story centers on Marten, a 20-something music nerd, his PC named Pintsize, and a mysterious girl who moved in with him after she accidentally burned her apartment building down while trying to make toast. Lots of fun, and a crisp clean art style. Check it out.

That’s it for this week. If you have a comic you think I should check out please send it my way over in the message boards.
